An Evening by Candlelight
A brilliant age of jazz and its stars:
How they lived, loved and created in the era of
The Great Gatsby

Not an evening, but a trip back in time! It's the bright and sparkling 20's, a time of jazz, the most fun parties and the Harlem Renaissance. You are wearing a dress by young Coco Chanel, and in your purse a new novel by Fitzgerald "The Great Gatsby", and even if there is a "dry law", your glass is always full!

March 16 at 19:30, Lisbon

A candlelit evening in the style of the Jazz Age and Fitzgerald's best novels:

  • We will meet in one of the most beautiful living rooms in the center of Lisbon with large floor-to-ceiling windows, parquet and moldings.

  • There, by candlelight over a glass of sparkling wine, we will immerse ourselves in the sparkling 20's, a time of jazz, the most fun parties and the Harlem Renaissance. We'll meet the brightest stars of the era, from Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli to Henry Ford and Charles Lindbergh.

  • We will find out who are the flappers and who was the head of the style icons of that time: Josephine Baker, who walked with a cheetah on a leash, Tamara de Lempicka - the main artist of the 20s and the mysterious beauty Greta Garbo.

  • But the main characters of the evening are "the prince and princess of their generation" Francis and Zelda Fitzgerald. Their great and tragic love story has gone down in history and inspired Fitzgerald's immortal books, "The Great Gatsby" and "Tender is the Night".

  • We will enjoy champagne, light hors d'oeuvres and pleasant conversation in a refined atmosphere in the center of Lisbon.

  • The dress code is evening. As for going to the theater or restaurant: dress, suit, ensembles with skirts and pants. Elements of the 20's are welcome.

Price includes sparkling wine.

The books of the evening:

"The Great Gatsby" and "Tender is the Night."

The evening will dive into the life and works of Francis Scott Fitzgerald and his key works. "The Great Gatsby" and "Tender is the Night" are some of the best books of American and world literature that everyone should read.

They have won fame from millions of people and distinguished critics, but they still remain among the most enigmatic - so brilliantly and unobviously they are written.

Thank you for an amazing lecture! You are a guiding star in the world of literature, guiding and rediscovering writers. For me, the lecture was even more valuable than the book!

And what a place, aesthetics - at the meetings all the details are thought out to the last detail!

I had an amazing meeting where we discussed not only the book, but much more.

I highly recommend all of Katya's meetings, she has a special talent for talking about literature and gathering like-minded people around her.
